Many stables claim to be importers of Irish Horses for sale or to have race horses for sale. At White Gate, we don’t ‘claim’, we guarantee. Our horses are selected for temperament and ability, broken, hunted and vetted in Ireland. They really are Irish sports horses.
Not just Importers of Irish Sports Horses...
Of course, we haven’t earned our formidable reputation by simply being importers of Irish sports horses or by having Irish horses, but by having only the very finest Irish horses for sale.
Once they’ve made their journey across the Irish Sea, the real work begins. Our horses are transferred to our purpose-built stables, where they come under the care of our principle, Joe Murphy. His knowledge of hunting horses is quite simply unrivalled, but his knowledge is far from limited to hunters. Joe has also produced show jumping horses, eventers, working horses and driving horses.
Under Joe’s direction, every horse (pony, cob or riding horse) is schooled daily and ridden in our own ménage and over our cross-country course. They are shod, clipped, boxed, taught good stable manners and trained to cope with heavy traffic and are open to vet.
Hunters, Eventers and Show Jumping Horses
Our hunters are taken on hunts throughout the season, and are trained to jump hedges, ditches, gates, post and rails and to cross water. Consequently, our hunters are all-round Irish sports horses with the potential to become eventers or show jumping horses.
We normally have somewhere in the region of 30 to 50 race horses for sale.
